Please note that this itinerary serves as a general guide. Daily activities and timings may differ between boats, and the itineraries provided are flexible to accommodate your captain’s preferences. Additionally, as is common with any great sailing adventures, schedules are subject to adjustment based on weather and sea conditions.

Day 1: Let’s go to Paradise!

We will organize the shared 4×4 Jeep to take you from your hotel or hostel in Panama City to the coast where a speedboat will be waiting to take you to your sailboat in San Blas. Once onboard, the captain will welcome you with a light breakfast and give you the boat briefing as you get to know your home for the next five days.

You will then be ready to start exploring paradise! While you swim in the crystal clear waters the captain will get you stamped out of Panama. As these are the islands closest to mainland, they tend to be the most touristic so it’s a perfect time to buy artisan souvenirs and enjoy a barbecue or traditional food prepared by the Kuna community.

Day 2: San Blas islands

While having breakfast on board, weigh anchor and sail to the next set of islands. You have arrived at the central cay! Anything is possible! Play volleyball, football, and enjoy a coco loco at the island bar.  Each boat is different, so on each trip, the crew will tell you the plan for the day. At night, lie out on deck and watch the stars while sharing stories with friends. Relax or party it up at a bonfire with music on the island.

Day 3: The most exotic islands await …

Your last stop is at the easternmost exotic islands! These are the most remote and best for snorkeling, exploring, taking a dip in the turquoise waters, or simply relaxing in the sand. You will spend the day enjoying paradise while the crew prepares for the open sea. You will depart for Cartagena in the evening of this day (weather permitting).

Day 4: Open Sea:

Wake up at sea! Relax and enjoy as you cross the 200 nautical miles of open ocean. If you are lucky, you may get a visit from a family of dolphins swimming along with the boat. Chill out and listen to music, play cards, or read a good book. On a clear night, watch the shooting stars! If it is cloudy you can get a glimpse of the amazing bioluminescent plankton glittering in the boat’s wake. Hopefully your crew will catch a fish or two and you can have some fresh sashimi or ceviche.

Day 5&6: You have arrived!

Open Sea & Welcome to Cartagena! You may arrive on day 5 or day 6 of your trip; it all depends on the sailing conditions and the time of year. Wind, waves, and currents can affect the duration of the crossing year round.

Bienvenido a Colombia! Your sailing adventure ends in the colorful Caribbean city of Cartagena! No long bus rides to worry about! Hang out and organize your luggage while your captain takes care of getting you stamped into the country. After saying goodbye to your captain and crew you will disembark with your memories and new friendships in the port of Manga, it is just a 5 minute taxi to the walled city.

Day 1: Let’s go to Paradise!
Your Adventure awaits! You have two options to get to Puerto Lindo. You can choose to take local buses the days before the trip, or we can arrange a shared shuttle to pick you up from your hotel or hostel in Panama City on the day of the trip. You will drop off your bags then be free to get dinner and enjoy Puerto Lindo before departing for San Blas that evening!

FAQ 5-nights sailing trip

The windy season runs from mid-December to April during which time strong winds are common, usually making it a great time to set sail! Outside of the windy season, winds can get quite quiet which can make it difficult to sail. It is important for captains to sail on schedule, which means there are times when they are forced to rely on the motor when the winds aren’t complying in order to do so. While the captains prefer sailing, safety, and comfort are our top priorities for both the passengers and the boat. If sailing is important to you, we recommend booking a smaller fiberglass monohull during the windy season.
